The Tasting Experience

A good friend of mine, Michael, put me onto The Hawke’s Bay Syrah Shiraz and I really enjoyed it. This Syrah has bright aromas of spice, blackberries and raspberries. The taste exhibits dark berries and plum aromas with a sweet earthy note, vanilla and nutmeg. The flavours are expressive with modest tannin. My summary is - delicious, balanced with a long finish and I’d have no hesitation sharing a second bottle with a mate. Rating: ★★★★★

About Babich Winery

Hawke’s Bay vineyard region is blessed with a superb climate which is sufficiently cool to ripen grapes slowly, yet warm and sunny enough to promote optimum fruit ripening. Hawke’s Bay vineyards have a tradition of quality table winemaking which stretches back to the 19th century. Babich’s Hawke’s Bay vineyards total 77.8 hectares (192.2 acres) and they started in 1916. At just 20 years of age in 1916, Josip Babich made his first New Zealand wine – under the name Babich Brothers. Three generations later is where we are today with Babich Winery.
