Michelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio appreciation post! The work of Caravaggio is so amazing for me and I especially love the faces in his painting - full of character, expression and sincerity. I also love how his famous works are set in a dark scene with the subject rising from the dark hue with strong colours. Caravaggio’s use of red, or black is striking, as striking as the subject matter in his work. A true master!

Taiwan’s Best Craft Beer

Saigon Chocolate
Maison Marou, Ho Chi Minh City Vietnam ~ When visiting Ho Chi Minh City be sure to visit Maison Marou at 167-169 Calmette, Ho Chi Minh City Vietnam for a wonderful chocolate and cafe experience. Marou Faiseurs de Chocolat was among the first “bean to bar” concepts in Asia and one of the few in the world to make chocolate at origin. Rating ★★★★

Blockhead
Blockhead Barossa Shiraz 2017 is a bold, dry and could be considered a decent Shiraz wine. There’s aromas of plum, blackberry and a slight cedar nose. The Blockhead has soft tannins and is has a rounded medium bodied texture. Considering the price this is solid, however, St. Hallett has some better offerings out there. The Blockhead is well balanced and easy-to-drink with a nice price. Rating ★★★
Old Mate Pale Ale
Old Mate is a solid craft beer with a cool name and cool can design! This pale ale is easy to drink and has a has a citrusy hoppy presence. 5.0% ALC/VOL | Look Moon Dog’s cool range of beers - outstanding label designs and great names! 10/10 for the creative team at Moon Dog!
LZ
The Bodega Lanzaga LZ 2017 is a fruity, attractive, fresh and very good wine. There’s evidence of black fruit aromas and herbs. The LZ has medium acidity, high tannins and is medium bodied with a long finish. A delightful, easy-to-drink and lively red wine. Rating ★★★★

Elbow
Live at The Ritz – An Acoustic Performance is a wonderful live album. Exception recording quality and a first class performance from ELBOW. Recorded in October 2019 in the intimate surroundings of The Ritz in Manchester, the album includes acoustic versions of tracks from ‘Giants of All Sizes’ alongside older favourites. ★★★★
Pirate Life Brewing IPA
The Pirate Life Brewing IPA is a great craft beer! Deliciously hoppy with aromas of citrus and a really lovely drop. This lovely IPA’s can was designed to showcases the Gulf racing colours of powder blue and orange as championed by the Ford GT 40 at Lemans. 6.8% ABV.
Capel Vale
The Capel Vale Regional Series Margaret River Cabernet Sauvignon is a medium bodied wine with fruit characters. The Cabernet Sauvignon is a smooth mix of spices and berries and is best paired with some red meat. The Capel Vale is nice on the nose, has a lovely deep purple colour and a classy well designed label. Smooth and well balanced and good quality considering the price point. Rating ★★★★
